Recycled Salvation

To the citizens of Grand Junction, Colorado:

Our recent employment drought of 2009 necessitated a temporary lifestyle of metal salvage and recycling for quick cash.

In an eighteen week period, my partner and I redeemed 642 lbs of aluminum, 33 lbs of copper and 391 lbs of steel for a total value of $315.59.

During the same period, we recovered over $60 in US currency from the streets, vending machines and public telephones within walking distance of our home.

In all, this generously careless community provided us with a dependable $3 per day average wage.

This was a much appreciated income stream during a difficult economic time.

With gratitude and expectations of a Happy New Year, Two former unemployed street scavengers.
